Theme Presentation Reflections

Education today and in the future

Group 1 made an amazing presentation about education. They discussed the reality of the many challenges that face students and the possible future of education. They researched the changes in the education system over the years and the current state of education in the United States. There are a number of current issues that prevent people from seeking an education. Higher education has gotten more expensive throughout the years and although there are options, most students work their way through college and may not qualify for financial aid. They may also have other factors demanding their attention and without financial aid, they may be held back from their pursuit of an education. Students face many issues in todays education system since it is very demanding and competitive. They face societal pressures to obtain an education while trying to manage their livelihood, lack of security, racism, bullying, and a lack of interest due to the pressures and loss of motivation. Due to the pandemic, education has changed greatly and students are not allowed the traditional classroom whereas classes have switched over remotely and technology has played a huge role in the opportunities to obtain an education despite any obstacles. Group 1 did an incredible job presenting the flaws of the education system, the advancements made, and how it has adapted to these challenging times.

The Pandemic/Health Care Background

Group 2 did an incredible job presenting their research about this topic. They effectively discussed the progression of the pandemic from the beginning to its current state and how the Covid-19 pandemic has affected everyone. They spoke of the impact the pandemic made in peoples lives, economy, politics, and health care. It has globally caused the death of millions of people and caused the largest global recession to date, with most of the global population on lockdown. Many Americans have lost their job, been unable to pay their cost of living, and a number of financial losses. In order to relieve the people, The United Stated government had offered support in the forms of shelters/food relief, financial relief for businesses, and more than $3 trillion dollars in relief. They also showed how to slow the spread the virus and safety precautions people could use in their daily lives while the vaccines are still rolling out to the public.

Racism

Group 3 thoroughly researched this topic for the presentation. They discussed significant events to demonstrate the racism through history, as well as the current issues and where it is heading in the United Stated. They covered the movements that stood against racism, such as Civil Rights Movement, The Harlem Renaissance, and Black Lives Matter. They also covered racism currently in other countries, such as Canada, Mexico, South America, and the United Kingdom to name a few. The history of racism in other countries, their current issues and where they may be heading. Horrible events like the Xinjiang Internment Camps and the genocide of Jews during World War 2 was discussed, and possible solutions we may practice to combat racism.
