 Chapter 3: Intercultural Communication was an intriguing chapter presented by group 1. The chapter defined culture as a system of of shared values, beliefs, and norms that guides a number of people. It covers the different type of cultures, the differences between cultures and how to better communicate with someone from a differing culture. Common potential barriers to effective intercultural communications include anxiety, assumptions, ethnocentrism, stereotyping, and incompatible norms and values. The common strategies to overcome those barriers are to acquire accurate knowledge, adopt an appropriate attitude, and developing culture-centered skills.
